Achievement Award for Young Indigenous Women

In recent years Zonta International D24 (NSW & ACT) has worked to engage in a constructive way with our indigenous community. This award is designed to recognise and celebrate the achievements of young women of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background enrolled in Yr. 12 or the TAFE equivalent.  Each year all NSW/ACT Zonta clubs are encouraged to approach their local secondary schools or TAFE college to nominate a suitable Year 12 young indigenous woman for this award. The Zonta Club of Botany Bay has provided a high level of support for this award each year and in 2019, Sarita Singh, Captain of Heathcote High School, was a co-winner of this District 24 Award. Sarita was a worthy candidate demonstrating qualities of leadership, service and a clear determination to complete her secondary schooling.

In 2024, Trish Lathlean from Lucas Heights Community High School was the local finalist in this award.  Trish demonstrated leadership, service and commitment to education in the future.
