The purpose of the Woman of Achievement Award is to honour and recognise a woman who has made a significant contribution to her community within the Georges River, Bayside and Sutherland Shire Councils. She must demonstrate leadership, initiative, commitment and have achieved a successful outcome. As a result of this service, the community is a better place to live.
Luiza Dorfman Knijnik is our 2024 Woman of Achievement Awardee
Luiza is a 20 year old Law student who works with Project Youth where she leads a Peer Education Program with a diverse team of 12 peer leaders. She has initiated a robust data collection method for evaluation which has earned her a Health Department Benchmark of Excellence.
The Peer Education Program has reached 3000 youth

Annette Brodie is our 2023 Woman of Achievement Awardee.
Annette has an environment and communications background.
She established Reconnect Project as a social enterprise/registered charity in 2019 and was the Winner of the 2022 "Impact100Sydney100" Award for employment pathways initiative.
Reconnect Project's aim is to repurpoe technolgy to -
- give to those in need,
- close the digital divide for the who cannot access technology,
as well as run training courses for young people with psycho-social conditions and to grow current volunteer training centre into a registered disability enterprise.

Gabrielle Humphreys is our 2022 Woman of Achievement Awardee.
Gabrielle is the General Manager of Dandelion Support Network, a
not-for-profit that supports children and families in need.
Dandelion accept, sort and safety check children’s clothes and nursery items for families in need and work with hospitals and support agencies to provide these items to the families.
Gabrielle joined DSN as a vounteer in 2012, progressed through management and operational roles since 2013 and has been instrumental in expanding the service from within the Sutherland Shire to other areas of metropolitan Sydney.
Gabrielle was the President of the Multiple Birth Association 2013-2015.
Our winner for our inaugural 2021 Award is Emily Brown.
Emily serves as a volunteer at St George North Anglican Church leading two separate programs for children in the local area.
Her passion for working with others and supporting children is evident in the way she engages with in the community. Emily works with others to train and encourage leaders of varying ages both inside and outside her team. Opportunities for mentoring has enabled her to encourage others to grow new skills and improve outcomes for children as they are cared for and supported in their growth. Emily genuinely cares for people in the community and is always looking for opportunities to serve others as she lives out her faith.
