Days for Girls
The Zonta Club of Botany Bay adopted the Days for Girls organisation as one of their service projects in January 2015. Days for Girls provide washable, reusable menstrual management kits for impoverished girls. Since 2015, ZCBB has provided financial aid for the purchase of materials needed for these kits and a member has purchased fabric and other materials as required to make the sewn components (bag, two shields, four regular liners and four heavy-flow liners per kit). These kits were sent to schoolgirls in Rwanda and to refugee camps in Europe & the MiddleEast. They are distributed free to the women and girls who attend an information session about the use and care for of their kits. At this session the DFG volunteers also teach about girls’ and women’s reproductive health to provide correct information to the girls as well as dispelling harmful myths and improving their self-esteem. Days for Girls has distributed over 1.5 million kits in more than 120 countries since they began in 2008
