Fundraising events:

Our annual charity golf day is coming up on Saturday, 28 March 2009.

The new format of a shotgun start at 8am was such a success we will be doing this again in 2009.

Golf days are always fully booked, so get in early to be sure of a place.

If you would like to get involved inthis event, contact the organiser June Beattie.

What does it take to improve the status of women?

Many different things, not just money!

Yes, raising money to fund projects is a big part of the community service work of a Zonta Club.  But there is a lot more to it than that, and many more people are involved in the work of the Club than just our members.

This section gives some insights into what resources we use to improve the status of women in our area and elsewhere in the world. If you have a question or would like more information, please email us at pr@zontabotanybay.org

Zonta car on the move! The most precious commodity that supporters of the Club can provide is their time, and we are very fortunate to have some very faithful workers.  Many of our workers are not members of the Club, but those who willingly do a myriad of jobs to assist in the work of the Club.

We are always in need of expertise that might assist in solving the issues relating the status of women in our community and elsewhere, but even if you feel you have no special knowledge to contribute, there is always lots of things to do.

Just for starters - a lot of ferrying of goods and things is done by colleagues and family members, birthing kits have been packed by almost everyone we know and an awful lot of sewing has been done by mothers, neighbours, sisters and girlfriends.

So even if you only have an hour or two occasionally, we would love to have more volunteers on call.

Zonta Welcome Kits for women in needOtherwise, the Club would also really welcome contributions to the kits provided to women in need (eg. at local refuges). Shown here (right) is Club member Pam Lancaster (red jumper) handing over ‘welcome kits’ to representatives of St George Women’s Housing.

The kits are intended as practical help for women re-establishing their household, such as when recovering from domestic violence circumstances.

Zonta Breast Care Cushions in a pileIn recent times, we have been very fortunate to have a free supply of Tontine filling for our Zonta Breast Care Cushions.

Other contributors to this project have included many people who have made small donations to the Club or attended fundraising events in support of this project.

The Club runs a significant raffle at key events and would certainly welcome any contributions that the community may wish to offer, such as complementary passes. discount vouchers or gift certificates or even suitable products.
