As part of Zonta International, the Zonta Club of Botany Bay is a classified service club engaged in community service works and projects in our local area in Sydney, Australia, as well as reaching out around Australia and overseas.

Membership of Zonta International is open to women with experience in decision making in the work place. In asking women to join our Club, we interpret our membership classifications in a fairly relaxed manner, so our membership is really varied and interesting.

In addition to our best known project, the Zonta Breast Care Cushion, packing birthing kits for women in developing countries is a key Club activity in support of this District 24 project.

A good winter activity, Club members are shown (above right) at the home of a member packing birthing kits that are destined to assist women in Madagascar. In previous years, kits packed by the Club have gone to Nepal, Viet Nam and New Guinea.

Zonta International visit

In 2005, Zonta International President Mary Ellen Bittner (pink jacket) visited Australia for a round of meeting Zontians as part of her duties.

A dinner was held in Sydney, with several Club members able to attend and take as their guest the 2002 Club winner of the Young Women in Public Affairs Award, Elisa Fisher, who went on to become one of the five world wide Zonta International winners that year.
